North Oxford Corridor Priority P1B – Kidlington Roundabout

Dear resident or business owner

North Oxford Corridor Priority P1B – Kidlington Roundabout

We are writing to provide advanced notification that work is due to begin from 2 January 2024 on the road improvement project at the Kidlington roundabout and its approaches.

The latest scheme, as consulted on in October 2022, and approved in February 2023, has completed detailed design including no impact on mature trees and more direct routes for cycling and walking. The project will allow for easier access into Oxford city centre, improve bus journey times, and improve pedestrian and cycle connectivity. The scheme is fully in line with Oxfordshire County Council’s priorities to take action to tackle the climate emergency and cut carbon emissions, prioritise the health and well-being of residents, and invest in an inclusive, integrated and sustainable transport network.

Other benefits of the project include:
• improving links to Park & Ride sites
• improving road safety and reducing road traffic accidents
• improving streetlights along pedestrian and cycle routes
• improving road and footway conditions, and
• improved air quality for people living near the main routes.

Our principal contractor, Milestone Infrastructure Ltd, and their subcontractors will be undertaking minor preparation works to set up the site compound and necessary equipment from 2 January with main activities commencing from Monday 8 January. The main construction works are scheduled to be completed in June 2024.

Speed limits will be reduced while construction is ongoing, and narrow lanes will be in operation for the large majority of the works with two vehicle lanes maintained around the circulatory of the roundabout at all times. Whilst disruption will be minimised, some traffic delays can be expected. Please consider walking, cycling or using public transport during this time, where possible. p.t.o.
