Grants

Each year the Parish Council reserves a sum of money for disbursement of grants to voluntary organisations and community groups who provide a service which benefits the residents of Kidlington.

These grants are limited, and can only be made available to those organisations that can demonstrate a need for assistance for activities that fall within the above statement.

To ensure fair and proper consideration is given to requests for this funding, the Council requires the following to be submitted to the Community Officer at Community@kidlington-pc.gov.uk

  • A completed application form
  • Grant Policy
  • An up to date set of accounts. If the organisation is a new entity with no accounts available, please provide a Business Plan, stating aims and objectives, along with a financial projection for at least the current financial year.
  • Any additional evidence that the organisation considers will support their application

Applications are considered four times a year at the meeting of the Community Committee.

Kidlington Parish Council were delighted to give The Big Sing a community grant for the purchase of a new keyboard.  The Big Sing offers a safe and welcoming space to enjoy community singing once a month at St John’s Church on The Broadway.  Cllrs Lesley McLean, Melanie Moorhouse and Alison Street went along to present the cheque and join in the fun.  Cllr Street said "The Big Sing has a brilliant inclusive atmosphere and the music really brings people together. Mark and Kate are superb with their musical intros and make a great team".

Cycling Without Age

A few years ago, Kidlington Parish Council gave a grant to an organisation called Cycling without Age to help buy a tricycle that could be used to transport older and less physically able residents around the village.  The Council is delighted to share these photos of people enjoying the ride and getting out and about.  The tricycle will be on hand for the Gala Day on 20 July and can come and pick you up from your home (in Kidlington).  If you’d like to find out more please email us at community@kidlington-pc.gov.uk

Volunteer Driver Service - £1,500 Grant

On 5th September Kidlington Parish Council Community Committee were really delighted to award a £1,500 a grant to Volunteer Driver Service.  Volunteer drivers help so many people every day in our community, whether it's visits to a loved one in a care home, shopping, hospital appointments or events to support their wellbeing and quality of life.

Hospital transport and South Oxfordshire Ambulance are overstretched and unable to accommodate all patients.  If Volunteer Driver Service did not operate, many elderly and vulnerable patients would have to rely on taxis.  These drivers often go the extra mile to wait for passengers; to help them get to where they want to go, taking people who have no other local support to supermarkets to do essential food shopping.

While they attend to 5.181 passengers on their books, they aim to grow their service in Kidlington from 120 to 140 clients this year.  Often these people need their services more than twice a week.

Our Grant will be spent on the following:
Advertise from more drivers
Pay for DBS checks
Ensure signage to identify the cars
Pay for starter packs with ID cards
