Subject: Engagement Events and Survey for Local Government Reorganisation
To: All Cherwell Parish Authorities
Dear Colleagues
Those of you who attended the Parish Liaison Meeting last week will be aware that we will be hosting engagement events for our Local Government Reorganisation proposals (please see the attached flyer).
The purpose of these events is to allow residents and other stakeholders to share feedback that can help shape our final proposal, which we will submit to government in November.
At this stage, our focus is on:
- Raising awareness of the draft proposal for two new councils (Oxford and Shires and Ridgeway).
- Listening to what matters most to people about local council services — so we can ensure our proposal reflects local priorities, concerns, and aspirations.
- Collecting feedback on the principles behind the proposal.
The type of feedback we are looking for aligns with the survey (available at twocouncils.org). We’re asking people about:
- What they value most in their local council services
- What services do they feel need improving
- What local priorities should guide how services are designed
- How they want to engage with councils in future
Each event will be attended by senior CDC staff and either the Leader or Deputy Leader of the council. The dates and locations are:
- Monday 23 June at Exeter Hall, Oxford Road, Kidlington, OX5 1AB from 3pm to 7pm
- Tuesday 24 June – John Paul II Centre, The Causeway, Bicester. OX26 6AW from 3pm to 7pm
- Monday 7 July – Banbury Town Hall, Bridge Street, Banbury, OX16 5QB from 3pm to 7pm
Anything you can do to promote this engagement in your communities will be greatly appreciated.
