THE ST MARY'S CLOSED CHURCHYARD

This is the historic burial ground around St Mary's Church, and has long been closed to new interments. However the Parish Council has assumed responsibility for its maintenance.


ST MARY'S BURIAL GROUND

The newer burial ground next to the old churchyard is maintained by the Parish Council. It is now full and closed to further interments, except in previously reserved spaces. However there is a Garden of Remembrance where ashes may still be buried after cremation. Arrangements may be made directly with the Parish Council (see below for contact details), or through a funeral director.

 

Garden of Remembrance

The Kidlington Parish Council would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful residents who maintain the planting around the Garden of Remembrance.  The flowers area delightful sight with their vibrant colours.


 


St Mary's Church - Stone Walling

St Mary's Church has the most beautiful stone wall surrounding its graveyard.  Over the years, due to weather conditions and the presence of very old trees, the wall has become damaged and has fallen down in some areas.  This has required the Kidlington Parish Council facilities team to yearly check and repair the wall to ensure it is safe.  The recent repair was necessary because an old tree had grown so large that it pushed the wall out, making it unsafe.  The wall has now been repaired with future repairs anticipated


St Mary's Grave Yard

Beautiful, well-kept graveyard, which has been hard to maintain due to the hot and wet summer weather making the grass grow rapidly.  The Kidlington Parish Council groundsman team, consisting of Dave, John and help out during the Summer period with Ollie, have been working hard to keep on top of the grass cutting at St Mary's Churchyard to maintain its beauty.  Well done team, and thank you!
