Maintenance and resurfacing work

Published: 23 September 2021

Maintenance and resurfacing work to the entirety of the roundabout on Lyne Road with the junction of Wilsden Way and Thorne Close in Kidlington.

Works are programmed to start on Friday 15th October 2021 and are expected to last for two nights, subject to any bad weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances during construction.

Works will include ironwork adjustments and the resurfacing of the existing carriageway, following which all existing and legal road markings and lines will be reinstated.

Traffic Management

In order to keep traffic disruption to a minimum, the works will be carried out under two overnight full road closures from 2000-0600hrs, being on Friday and Monday, on either side of the weekend. Lyne Road and the Wilsden Way roundabout will be fully reopened outside of these hours. A fully signed local diversion route will be put in place for the scheme duration.

Works have been programmed to complete the resurfacing in two phases, which will allow residential access to both Thorne Close and Wilsden Way to be maintained throughout. The northern half of the roundabout will be closed on Friday, with access via Grovelands and Lyne Road South. The southern half of the roundabout will be closed on Monday night, with access via Lyne Road north and via the A4260 Banbury Road. We apologise unreservedly for any inconvenience this may cause.

Surfacing operations are moving operations so the highest levels of noise will only be experienced by individual frontages for short periods. The nosiest operation, the planing will be completed by 2300hrs on each night.
